Portrait member BDSM community

A small step towards a world without prejudice.

My quest to learn about the Bondage/Discipline (BD), Dominance/Submission (DS) and Sadism/Masochism (SM) community. Are the prejudices of outsiders justly?; “It is sexual abuse”, “These people have a messed up mind” and so on...

I myself am quite open and try not to have prejudices. But I expected this community to be very difficult to reach.
Turned out it was the opposite.
I was welcomed by a number of very hospitable people who explained to me with all love and respect about the BDSM community. Probably the most hospitable and honest people I have ever met.

I discovered that the world of BDSM is much broader than I thought and many others think.
One member said to me:

“Every person secretly has a kink, but not everyone has the opportunity to express it, because unfortunately it is not yet accepted by society, despite no harm being done to anyone”.

Nowadays it is more accepted thanks to the Fifty Shades Series, but the series aren’t a good reflection of how the BDSM community truly works.

The most important thing I learned from the experience is that everything is done with consent of the other party.
It is all based on trust (which is not the case in the Fifty Shades series). Along the way arose a similar trust between me, the photographer, and the photographed members of the community.

My goal was to portray the community members with a sense of pride, a pride because they have the guts to really be theirselves.

Sorry. No sensational erotic story to confirm your prejudices.
